- I have been assisting
do-it-yourself and professional builders construct
greenhouses, sunrooms & skylights for 29 years. For 37 years I
have been in construction, from a glazers helper (installing glass
storefronts) to selling large commercial skylights. I have a
wealth of technical expertise to share with you. The web site
(with over 200 well indexed pages) is an incredible resource. If
you have questions on installation See Design
& Install Intro<
It's all in here!

- Greenhouse & Sunroom
Construction Note: In the early days I attempted to sell kit
greenhouses, but very often the cost was too high. Once sold, the
customer still had to construct the unit. Sometimes a kit is easy
to install, sometimes it is a real bear. During the first 10 years
in the business, I sold glass. Often builders experienced
difficulty installing the glass and leaks were a problem.
Polycarbonate has proven to be an easy-to-install and easy-to-seal
glazing material. Leaks are rarely a problem and can be easily
dealt with.
-
- Why not go to the local
builders' supply, pick up some lumber, build a simple frame and
cover it with polycarbonate. See Framing
Guide in Adobe Acrobat format.
-
- Two of the most frequent
comments I receive are: 1) "this looks complicated; I'm not sure
what to do" and 2) "that was so easy, I had no idea". Why not go
for it. Have confidence in yourself. Make the commitment and let
the process unfold. Once you have the materials on hand and begin
building you too will say, "that was so easy, I had no
idea".
-
- If you need help with
construction, hire a carpenter to help, enlist the assistance of a
friend and see the Design
& Install Introduction.
