Metal Building Corrugated Layout & Screw Positioning Quote & Order
Above is roof layout. Girts on walls spaced every 4 feet. If using rafter & stud framing blocking between rafters & studs replaces purlins
• Layout above will support a 25 lb. load. For 30 lb. load position purlins every 3 ft. For 40 lb. load position purlins every 2 ft.
Screw Positioning & Attachment
• At Purlins, girts or along blocking: Place one 2" wood or self-drill screw every corrugation crown. Also place a 1" screw in the center of the flat area between the crowns. In high wind areas also place a 1" screw (in the flat part of the sheet) to the right and left of each crown.
• At Sheet overlap: Best to use Hy-Clinch Rivet if no framing member below.
• At Rafters: For greatest strength place a screw every 12". On purlin framing this would require blocking and may only be deeded in high wind areas.
• Roof and Wall Corners: Place screws every 12" on-center. In high wind areas every 3-9" on-center, depending on predicted wind speeds. The corners of a building receive the greatest wind loads.
• Note: To avoid sheet deforming fasten without excessive tension. Make sure to use our Screws with 3/4" sealing washers. This increases holding strength.
